A free browser extension for Video Editors and Producers who pull comps from stock footage sites all day — and need to know where every clip came from when it’s time to clear rights. Available for Chrome and Firefox.
The problem
You’re deep in an edit. You’ve pulled forty comps from six different stock sites over three weeks. The edit’s locked. Now you need to license the shots you actually used — and half your Downloads folder is unlabeled files with names like download (14).mp4.
What StockSilo does
When you download a comp from a stock footage site, StockSilo automatically:
- Files it into an organized folder — by project, then by site (Chrome). Firefox doesn’t give extensions a way to choose where a download saves, so on Firefox everything still logs perfectly, it just lands in your regular downloads location instead.
- Logs it — date, file name, source site, and a direct link back to the clip’s page — in a running CSV that lives right in the project folder

Clip-page intelligence. Many stock sites let you download from search results or a generic “my footage” page — pages that don’t identify the specific clip. StockSilo works out the real clip page on many supported sites, so your log links back to the actual video, not a search page.
Works with the sites you already use. Support for a wide range of stock footage marketplaces out of the box, and it grows with you — when you download from a new site, StockSilo asks once whether to track it, and remembers your answer.
Pause anytime. One toggle turns capture off completely — nothing routed, nothing logged — for the moments you’re downloading something that isn’t a comp.

StockSilo builds your download log while you work. Its companion tool, StockAudit, reconciles that log against your final cut once picture’s locked — so you know exactly which licensed clips made it into the finished piece.
